What matters
Anyone who thinks Mallorca needs no heating has never been there in January. Comfort means: equipped for both seasons.

Heat pumps are the standard now and do both – heat and cool. We check the age of the system, COP values, and service history. Inverter air-conditioners are efficient; old splits are often power hogs. Underfloor heating is common in more modern houses and especially comfortable.

The Spanish energy certificate ( Certificado Energético ) gives you a first reference point – we read it through with you and place the letter class (A to G) in realistic context. Important: a good energy certificate is no guarantee of a low electricity bill – the system also has to be operated correctly.

Mallorca has mild but damp winters. Houses with thick sandstone walls handle condensation well but often need basic heating. Classic single radiators, modern heat pumps, or pellet stoves – the best choice depends on the house. We listen to what matters most to you.

Yes – from December to February, it gets noticeably cold in a stone or marés house (4–12 °C at night). Good heating is comfort, not luxury. In summer A/C is similarly important.
Heat pump (efficient, dual with A/C), underfloor heating with heat pump, pellet or wood stove (warm, lots of work), gas boiler (rarer now). We recommend based on the property and budget.
Very – July/August regularly climbs above 35 °C. Multi-split A/Cs are standard; inverter units are efficient. Thick stone walls dampen a lot, but heat protection is still needed.
Age and service status of the units, energy class, whether outdoor units are cleanly installed, and whether permits exist. Old A/Cs are often power hogs – we factor that in.
