What matters
Portocolom is one of Mallorca's quietest harbors – and one of the few that has kept its fisherman's character.
01
From an apartment right on the harbor to a villa in the hills above. The mix of waterfront location, working harbor and quiet residential streets makes the town special. On one side of the natural harbor you'll find the classic fisherman's character with pastel houses; on the other, more modern neighborhoods with pool and garden.
02
Mallorca's largest natural harbor, a historic lighthouse, fishing boats heading out every morning – and a promenade that becomes the main place to be. Unlike many coastal towns, Portocolom has life in winter too: locals, restaurants, small shops. A rare combination.
03
Felanitx in 10 minutes by car, Santanyí in 25, Palma in 45. The town has bakeries, supermarkets, doctors and good restaurants. Beach: Cala Marsal, 5 minutes on foot. If you want to live on the water without a tourist hub, this is one of the most honest addresses on the island. Palma airport sits an hour away – roughly an 8-hour direct flight from New York.
Frequently asked
Portocolom is one of Mallorca's most original natural harbors – not a mega-port, but a working fishermen's and family town with a promenade, restaurants and the lovely Cala Marçal beach. The harbor basin is large and calm, the town has substance.
Apartments and villas along the harbor promenade, townhouses in the old village center, fincas in the hinterland toward S'Horta. A very broad mix.
Apartments with harbor view from around €400,000; waterfront villas between €1,500,000 and €5,000,000. Townhouses in the center from €500,000. Often a bit more accessible than Cala d'Or.
Many Mallorcans, German-speaking and British residents, artists, sailors. Lively year-round – not a seasonal town. Even in winter, cafés and restaurants stay open.
