Location

Location

Ses Salines sits in the south of Mallorca, an established village of around 2,000 residents set between salt flats and pine forests. The finca lies a little outside the village on an agricultural plot - surrounded by dry-stone walls, almond trees and open land. In the morning you hear birdsong; in the evening, the cicadas. Permanent neighbours are the exception here rather than the rule. A few minutes by car bring you into the village centre: the Plaça Major with Cassai Gran Café, restaurants such as Sa Sini and La Bottega, and the Iglesia de Sant Bartomeu. On Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the weekly market fills the Plaça Major with stalls, scents and conversation. Bakery, grocer's, pharmacy and the small health centre are all in the village. The village's name recalls the historic salt fields, dating back to Roman times, which still give the area its particular character. If you have children, you'll find the local primary school and a kindergarten in the village. International schools such as Eurocampus in Palma are about 40 to 50 minutes away. The sea is close. The beaches of Es Trenc, Es Carbó and Ses Roquetes can be reached in about 10 to 15 minutes by car - long, pale sandy beaches, turquoise water, protected nature. The harbour of Colonia de Sant Jordi, with cafés and mooring jetties, is also about 10 to 15 minutes away. Cala Llombards, Cala Santanyí and the Mondragó nature park are 15 to 20 minutes away. Golfers will find the courses around Llucmajor about 20 minutes away, and Vall d'Or Golf 25 minutes away. Palma airport is reached in around 35 minutes, the city centre in about 45 minutes. Here the best of two worlds comes together: the openness of a country house and the short distance to a lively village. The morning on the terrace, the sandy beach at midday, the day winding down beneath the Mallorcan night sky.
