Location

Location

Es Carritxó lies in the south-east of Mallorca, a tiny village at the foot of the Puig de Sant Salvador. Actual village life is sparse - the houses are fincas, surrounded by dry-stone walls, pines and almond trees. The finca itself sits between Es Carritxó and the neighbouring village of Calonge, on slightly elevated ground with a view across green valleys to the sea. The open land defines the setting: olive groves, vineyards, dry-stone walls, pines and the warm light of the south-east. Permanent neighbours are rare, traffic is light, the night sky is clear. In about 5 to 7 minutes you reach Felanitx, the next larger town with around 18,000 inhabitants. There you find everything for daily life: supermarkets, pharmacies, bakeries, banks, schools, kindergartens and the health centre. The famous Felanitx weekly market is held on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the centre - one of the largest on the island. Bodegas and the Santuari de Sant Salvador with its panoramic view are nearby. Santanyí, with its Wednesday and Saturday markets, is about 15 minutes by car. International schools such as Eurocampus in Palma are reachable in 45 minutes. The sea is close. Portocolom with its natural harbour, long promenade and waterfront cafés lies 10 to 15 minutes away. Cala Sa Nau, Cala Marçal and Cala Mondragó are 15 to 20 minutes away. Golfers find the Vall d'Or Golf course in 10 to 15 minutes, Son Antem in 30 minutes. Palma airport is about 45 minutes away, the city centre around 50 minutes. Here the calm of a rural setting connects with short routes to a lively market town and the coast. Mornings with birds on the terrace, midday at the beach, evenings winding down with a glass of wine under the pines.
