Ses Salines lies in the south of Mallorca, a quiet market town with a rural feel and around 5,000 inhabitants. The Plaça Major with the town hall and the Iglesia de Sant Bartomeu forms the centre of the village. The houses are built of light sandstone, the lanes are narrow, the atmosphere calm. Daily life in Ses Salines starts right at your doorstep: small grocery stores, bakeries, pharmacies, cafés and restaurants are all within walking distance. On Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. the weekly market turns the Plaça Major into a local meeting point - fruit, vegetables, plants and textiles. Restaurants such as Cassai Gran Café or smaller tapas bars around the main square shape the evenings. For families, the village offers a public primary school and a kindergarten. International schools such as Eurocampus in Palma are reachable in 40 to 50 minutes by car. The nearest health centre (Centre de Salut) is in Ses Salines itself. The sea is close. Es Trenc, perhaps the most well-known natural beach on the island with fine sand and turquoise water, lies about 10 minutes away by car. Es Carbó, the hidden coves around Cala Llombards and the fishing port of Colònia de Sant Jordi are all reachable in 10 to 15 minutes.
